In this midweek Bible study, we explore what true godly wisdom really looks like.
James 1:5 reminds us that if we lack wisdom, we can ask God — and He gives generously. But James 3:17 shows us that wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, and full of mercy.
Through the example of Rehoboam in 1 Kings 12, we see the danger of rejecting godly counsel and listening instead to voices that simply match our emotions. In a world full of “itchy ears” (2 Timothy 4:3), we are called to seek truth, endure affliction, and apply the wisdom God freely gives.

What time is it? Scripture tells us we can discern the times—and one of God’s greatest “time markers” is Israel, the people entrusted with the oracles of God. In Hebrews 11, Scripture reminds us that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” True faith isn’t placed in our circumstances, our abilities, or the things of this world — it is placed in Jesus Christ alone.
Throughout the “Hall of Faith,” we see men and women who trusted God even when they couldn’t see the outcome. Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and many others lived lives of obedience and trust because they believed in who God is and in His promises.
In this message, we’re reminded that:
Faith is confidence in Christ
Faith is obedient
Faith is active
And faith is proven through the way we live
Even when life brings trials, waiting seasons, and uncertainty, God is still faithful. When we trust Him fully, He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
No matter where you are in your walk with the Lord today, remember: your foundation must be Jesus Christ.
