Nursery Ministry

My Turn in The Nursery poem

Last Sunday was my turn in the nursery to work.
My heart wasn’t in it: my feelings were hurt.
A child did not want to part with its mother.
And it cried a lot with its broken heart.
I prayed that soon the hour would end.
That I could relax – no more children to tend.
I said, “Once a month was too much for me!”
That very next Sunday as I sat in the pew,

A very good sermon, but visitors were few.
But down came a woman and her soul was saved.
She was the mother of that crying babe!
Then it dawned on me that I had been a part
Of one being SAVED – giving Christ her heart.
From that day on I would never dread
Working in the nursery while souls are fed.

We are the beginning.  It is in our care that babies have their first contact with the body of Christ.  Our ministry is to give the babies a sound basis of security that will help prepare them for their futures!  These little ones are our “Future Church”.  We not only want to minister to the children, but also to their parents by tending to their little ones and sharing the responsibilities that go with the ministry.

Hebrews 6:10
For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
